Luxe Pack New York attracted a record-breaking crowd of 2,894 unique visitors to its 11th show—held May 15 and 16 at The Altman Building and Metropolitan Pavilion—representing an 11% increase in visitors over last year.
Additionally, a record number 165 exhibitors showcased, while 11 top-level seminars were held and myriad special exhibits were featured.
While the show grows each year, it continues to seek exhibitors touting high quality innovations as opposed to sheer numbers, said Luxe Pack’s executive director, Nathalie Grosdidier.

Aramis Honored at 24th Annual Packaging Gala

The Estée Lauder Companies’ Veronique Gabai-Pinsky with Marc Rosen of Marc Rosen Associates.
The 24th annual Pratt Institute Art of Packaging Award Gala was attended by more than 300 guests and raised roughly $350,000 for the Marc Rosen Scholarship and Education Fund for Packaging Design.
Held at The University Club on April 30, the black tie event has raised over $3.5 million since its inception and is the only scholarship in the world available to college students looking to pursue a career in cosmetics and package design. (Rosen’s course on cosmetic and fragrance package design at Pratt is the only one of its kind in the world.)

Patrick Firmenich, CEO of the leading fragrance and flavor supplier Firmenich, visited the Les Cayes region of South Haiti last month in support of an initiative launched three years ago benefitting local farming communities there.
Haitian vetiver—of which Firmenich is a most significant purchaser—is a crucial resource for the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, which has been plagued over the years by political turmoil and natural disaster.

DJ Cassidy Rocks 38th Annual Beauty Ball

This year’s 38th annual Beauty Ball, held on March 12 at Cipriani 42nd Street, presented a new format to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the March of Dimes—culminating with a dance party headlined by world-famous DJ Cassidy.
Rather than a single “Beautiful Apple Award” winner, several past partners, including Coty, Givaudan, Avon, Shiseido, L’Oréal USA, Condé Nast and IFF, were recognized. At press time, the event had raised approximately $700,000.

Redbook’s Revamp

The all-new Redbook’s April cover.
Redbook magazine has undergone both an external revamp and internal repurposing—and the lucrative beauty category is a huge part of what the 100-year-old women’s title is calling its “radical rethink.”
Fashion and beauty coverage will now comprise 50% of Redbook’s content, said its publisher Mary Morgan, beginning with the April issue on newsstands March 12. Also, 40% of the magazine’s advertisers are now beauty brands, including L’Oréal, P&G Beauty, KAO, The Estée Lauder Companies and Aveda.
