Germany-based fragrance and flavor supplier Symrise has acquired the American fragrance manufacturer Belmay in order to expand its fine fragrance, personal care and air care businesses—and to increase its market penetration in North America, the company said. The deal is effective March 4 and the purchase price has been kept confidential.

Seventy-seven-year-old Belmay, which is based in Yonkers, New York, generated sales of approximately $60 million in fiscal 2012. Prior to this sale, Symrise took over Belmay’s Brazilian fragrance business early last year.

Votre Vu’s Cancer Mission

Luxury French skin care company Votre Vu raised more than $25,000 for childhood cancer research in 2012.

The brand’s Color it Forward initiative, a month-long airstream tour to showcase its new color line, donated $5,000 for every 5,000 products sold. The company’s CEO, Harold Zimmerman, also shaved his head in support of the cause and made a $10,000 donation to the volunteer-driven and donor-centered St. Baldrick’s Foundation. On Facebook, the company donated $1.00 for every “Like” (up to $1,000)—a feat it realized in just six days. Votre Vu hopes to triple donations next year in its continued effort to conquer childhood cancers.

HBA Expo to Debut Juried Fragrance Pavilion

To spotlight innovation, HBA Global is launching the Spash! On Fragrance Pavilion at its annual, industry-leading event, which will take place from June 18 to 20 at New York City’s Javits Center. A curated area on the exhibition floor will feature innovative finished fragrance goods, including perfume, aromatherapy, home fragrance and more.

Displayed products will be selected by a jury of experts that includes members of the press, bloggers, retailers and entrepreneurs. Eligible products will have been on the market for no more than two years.

The event follows the debut of last year’s buzzy and highly successful Splash! Pavilion, which touted finished goods in all beauty and personal care categories.
