Science is Cool, Says L’Oréal USA

L’Oréal USA has launched forgirlsinscience.org—a new website designed to inspire and empower young girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (S.T.E.M.)
Featuring videos of female scientists on the job, career quizzes, fun facts and much more, the site’s goal “is to foster a much-needed community for young girls to see scientists that they want to emulate,” L’Oréal said.
“We know the depressing statistics about women in science and have been working to change them,” added Rebecca Caruso, the company’s EVP of corporate communications and external affairs.

The site is currently holding a “Why S.T.E.M. is Cool” video contest, in which students aged 13 to 18 nationwide are invited to produce and upload 30- or 60-second videos expressing their love for the sciences. The grand prize winner will receive a $2,500 cash prize, a tablet and $500 worth of L’Oréal USA beauty products.

HBA Expo to Debut Juried Fragrance Pavilion

To spotlight innovation, HBA Global is launching the Spash! On Fragrance Pavilion at its annual, industry-leading event, which will place from June 18 to 20 at New York City’s Javits Center. A curated area on the exhibition floor will feature innovative, finished fragrance goods, including perfumes, aromatherapy, home fragrances and more.

Displayed products will be selected by a jury of experts that includes members of the press, bloggers, retailers and entrepreneurs. Eligible products will have been on the market for no more than two years. The event follows the debut of last year’s buzzy and highly successful Splash! Pavilion, which touted finished goods in all beauty and personal care categories.
