Just-Formed Omni Scents To Launch Miss Universe Fragrance Trio!

The Miss Universe Organization is adding another jewel to its crown with the announcement of three branded fragrances inspired by Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA. The deal was inked with the newly-founded, Florida-based Omni Scents, helmed by industry veterans Neil Katz and Lucien Lallouz.

The license was unveiled just as Miss USA, Olivia Culpo, was crowned Miss Universe on December 19 in Las Vegas—the first American to do so since 1997.

“Around the world, the Miss Universe logo and brand symbolize confidently beautiful women, so it is a natural extension of the brand’s identity to introduce fragrance,” stated Paula Shugart, the Miss Universe Organization’s president.

“The Miss Universe fragrance collection, an annual series of three, will express the extraordinary feminine allure and aspirational glamour embodied by the three pageants and the outstanding women who win the titles,” said Katz, Omni Scents’ founder and president.
Katz stressed the international appeal of the pageants—being a television event viewed by one billion people in 190 countries, yearly—and therein the ability to franchise the collection all over the world. Nationally, the scents will be sold at department stores, Katz said, where the company can put the three pageant starlets on the floors of shopping malls across the country.

Miss Universe is the first of three total licenses in the works for Omni Scents, which will focus on lifestyle brands as opposed to celebrity and fashion scents. Each license will be aimed at a different psychographic, the company said, and target emerging markets with international distribution in more than 80 countries. Subsequent licenses will be announced in coming months.

Omni Scents brings together Katz, the former chairman and CEO of Parlux Fragrances, with founding partner Lallouz, who holds 30 years of experience in licensing and product development—having created fragrances for Julio Iglesias, Phantom of the Opera and Gone With the Wind. Katz is responsible for the blockbuster launches from megastars Rihanna, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton and Queen Latifah.

Another industry veteran, Jacqueline Singer, will serve as senior vice president, chief marketing officer. Singer’s previous experience includes marketing management positions at Coty, The Estée Lauder Companies, Lancôme and Revlon. Omni Scents’ advertising will be handled by Avrett Free Ginsberg, Dale Kan will charge package design and its PR agency is LSZ Communications.

Prior to Omni’s founding, all of the management team has collaborated on myriad projects over the past decade, the company said, with a close, synergistic relationship that has produced an outstanding track record.
