BEAUTY BALL RAISES $1.13 MILLION FOR MARCH OF DIMES

Over 500 guests from the cosmetic and publishing industries gathered at the March of Dimes 37th annual Beauty Ball on March 13 in New York City to honor Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSN, and Gina Sanders, president and CEO of Fairchild Fashion Media.

Host Deborah Norville welcomed the “beautiful crowd” to one of the beauty industry’s “most anticipated events of the year” founded by Beauty Fashion’s John Ledes in 1975. The event has raised more than $34 million over the last 37 years to benefit the March of Dimes, a nonprofit organization working to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Television fitness personality Tony Little presented the Retailer of the Year award to Grossman, whom he called “strong, smart and the most caring CEO on the planet.”

Grossman accepted her award and announced that HSN’s philanthropic program, HSN Cares, has partnered with the March of Dimes to create a new marketing campaign to raise awareness and donations for the organization.

“We are proud of our HSN Cares, and it has truly become the heart of everything we do,” said Grossman. “When Gina and I visited the neonatal unit, and saw the outpouring of support from March of Dimes, it made me acutely aware of the fragility of life. We at HSN are committed to creating a world with stronger, healthier babies.”

Amy Astley, editor in chief of Teen Vogue, presented Sanders with the Beautiful Apple Award, saying, “[Gina] knows how to succeed, and then she teaches other people—she is notoriously generous with her time and mentorship.”

Sanders took the stage and thanked her team, including everyone from her extended “Condé Nast” family, and said, “There is one word to describe my feelings right now, and that’s gratitude.”
