Clé de Peau’s Mediterranean Voyage
Clé de Peau Beauté, the 30-year-old beauty brand that fuses cutting-edge Japanese science with modern French elegance, has a lot to celebrate this Oscar season. The face of the brand, Amanda Seyfriend, who stars in the much-decorated Les Misérables, hosted a screening of the film for top beauty editors, while introducing the ultraluxe line’s latest skin care and color launches.
Clé de Peau, which means “the key to skin” in French, will introduce this month what it’s billing as two groundbreaking skin care launches. The brand is sold at Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, as well as select Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue locations nationwide.

Beauty and Beyond
$250,000 was raised for The James E. Marshall OCD Foundation at the ninth annual Beyond Beauty Dinner on February 12—an event that contributes to genetic research, education and grant funding for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder-related illnesses.
The event was given its name by Cosmetic World’s own publisher and editor emeritus, John Ledes, revealed the foundation’s founder from the podium, Linda Marshall, who is also president of Elysée Scientific Cosmetics.

CEW, NPD Team to Glean Industry Trends
Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) hosted its first-ever Trendspotting event on February 5 in partnership with market research firm The NPD Group to present cross-category sales results for 2012, global beauty industry trends, consumer research findings and more.

Maybelline’s Bountiful 2013
Maybelline New York is kicking off the New Year with a slew of launches set to bolster its top-selling color offer.
The mascara authority will launch this month The Rocket by Volum’Express, priced at $7.77 for 0.3 oz., and available in three washable and two waterproof shades. It boasts a “supersonic” brush with a rigid core and micro-bristles, as well as a fast-glide gellant formula that contains micronized pigments and thickening agents.

Just-Formed Omni Scents To Launch Miss Universe Fragrance Trio!
The Miss Universe Organization is adding another jewel to its crown with the announcement of three branded fragrances inspired by Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA. The deal was inked with the newly-founded, Florida-based Omni Scents, helmed by industry veterans Neil Katz and Lucien Lallouz.
The license was unveiled just as Miss USA, Olivia Culpo, was crowned Miss Universe on December 19 in Las Vegas—the first American to do so since 1997.

Ivanka Trump is adding another lucrative category to her growing empire. The businesswoman, Apprentice star, mother and creator of jewelry, shoes, handbags, fashion and accessories will introduce next month her debut fragrance, an eponymous floral oriental.
Creating a scent that would “stand the test of time” and that was “transitional in the sense that it could take consumers from day to evening, from the boardroom to black tie,” was essential in the conception of the perfume, Trump said at an exclusive breakfast launch event last month at Jean-Georges.

Victorinox Taps Swiss Forests
Inspired by lush Swiss landscapes and the brand’s own über-masculine DNA, famed knifemaker Victorinox is bringing to market an all-new men’s fragrance entitled Swiss Army Forest. Available at Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor and on swissarmy.com, Forest is “an explosion of freshness that incorporates authentic Swiss ingredients,” said Matthias Seyfang, CEO of Victorinox Swiss Army Fragrance.
The juice was developed by Firmenich perfumers Jean-Pierre Bethouart and Fabrice Pellegrin, who sought to strike a contrast between deep, woody warmth and a burst of light citrus, Victorinox said. Forest features notes of lemon, juniper and nutmeg atop a heart of clary sage, viola leaves and cedar that dries down with cypress, Siberian pine and wood moss.

Lisa Hoffman to Team with Tom Binns
In a cross-category partnership featuring scent-delivery technology that represents an industry first, Lisa Hoffman will introduce this month a fragrance jewelry collection alongside the Dada-influenced, cult-favorite jewelry designer Tom Binns.
The collaboration—which comprises pendant necklaces, cuff bracelets and earrings—represents a new venture for both parties, Hoffman told Cosmetic World in an exclusive interview at the Mandarin Oriental hotel. The pieces boast bean-like forms with perforated surfaces meant to evoke the liquid flow of mercury, and each contains Hoffman’s proprietary wooden fragrance beads infused with her five signature scents.
