Insiders Flock To CEW Demo

On March 3, Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) welcomed guests to its hotly-anticipated, 16th annual Beauty Awards Product Demonstration at the Metropolitan Pavilion and Altman Building in New York City.

Over 1,500 attendees sampled 550 of the year’s most innovative products from 300 top beauty brands. 155 finalists in each of 31 categories will be determined by over 3,400 CEW member votes and announced later this month—whereupon the CEW Board of Governors will select winners.
Victors will receive their coveted awards at a luncheon ceremony held at the Waldorf-Astoria on May 21.

The Indie Beauty Award will also be presented at this year’s luncheon, celebrating an independently-owned company—rather than a product—that’s no more than five years old. This year, 38 companies are vying for the honor.

“The number of 2010 CEW Beauty Awards product entries reinforces the enormous number of new beauty products available to consumers this year,” stated Carlotta Jacobson, president of CEW. “In beauty, innovation is a key driver, and this event recognizes and celebrates the industry at its best.”

With voting open to CEW members only, the awards are unique for bestowing an insider’s approval, the organization said. Additionally, “the CEW seal helps drive sales, providing distinction at retail with its placement online, in stores and on the products themselves.”

CEW has created the award categories and entry requirements alongside the NPD Group, with all ballots being cast electronically and tabulated by Ernst & Young.

Throughout all categories, CEW noticed several trends that women were seeking in 2009, including a high value proposition, products with multiple benefits, widespread availability and items with a health/wellness component.
