Glamour, L’Oréal Fete College Women
For the 52nd year, Glamour magazine recognized 10 outstanding women for their accomplishments in athletics, advocacy, music, science, politics and more at its annual Top 10 College Women awards.
Each of the winners is profiled in October’s Glamour, and received a whirlwind trip to New York in addition to cash prizes and a gift bag furnished by L’Oréal Paris, which has sponsored the event for 10 years.
The ladies were also feted during a chic luncheon at New York City’s The Modern restaurant, where special guest speaker Ivanka Trump shared life experiences and career advice. “Identify your passion,” she said, “and be bold in your pursuits.”
One of the honorees, Sohani Amarasekera, a student at the University of Pennsylvania, was bestowed the Beauty of Giving award—a $2,500 donation to the charity of her choice courtesy of L’Oréal Paris—for her work in ophthalmologic research.
Past recipients of the Top 10 College Women Awards include Martha Stewart, American Wife author Curtis Sittenfeld and Unite for Sight founder Jennifer Staple.
